Mobilis Rolyan is a trading name of Patterson Medical Ltd, the UK’s leading value-added distributor of rehabilitation, physiotherapy, podiatry, sports medicine, easier living aids and paediatric products to hospitals, private practioners, sports clubs, local authorities, retailers, private consumers and international distributors.
Located in Huthwaite, north Nottinghamshire our new 100,000 square foot head office and purpose built distribution centre provides a modern working environment for over 100 staff members. We also operates in Kettering, Billingshurst and provide operational facilities in the Ardennes and Toulouse regions of France.
With over 20,000 items available, we have one of the most comprehensive portfolios of products within the market. A lot of our products are manufactured or distributed exclusively and have been developed in association with healthcare professionals and end users. Many of these products are produced to our own design and exacting standards to ensure suitability, quality and value.
We produce a series of market leading product catalogues, publishing more than 1 million copies each year. In addition we have a substantial national sales force together with a technical service team, supported by customer services delivering first rate customer support.
Established in 1948 in Tooting Bec, London, we began life as Homecraft, supplying craft materials to Hospital Occupational Therapy Departments as it was proved to aid the recovery period of soldiers wounded in battle. Easier Living products were progressively introduced into the range and over time became the primary focus of the business.
As we expanded and changed ownership, the range was increasingly extended to include other rehabilitation products including hand therapy, physiotherapy and specialist products for children. This was accelerated in 2002 when we joined our current sister company Sammons Preston in the USA and Kinetec in France, and changed our name to Homecraft Rolyan. We are now positioned as one of the world's leading rehabilitation distributors. In 2003, along with our sister companies we were acquired by our current owner, the Patterson Company, based in Minneapolis in the USA, with the division operating under the name Patterson Medical.
Mobilis started in 1978, beginning life as Medisport International, the first company in Europe to specialise in sports medicine. Medisport introduced a range of branded products for the prevention and treatment of sports injuries that were sold to football and rugby clubs. Through a process of organic growth and acquisitions, Medisport’s customer base was expanded to include physiotherapists in private practice.
In 1986 Medipost Ltd was established, a company supplying consumables and capital equipment to private physiotherapists under the “Procare” brand name. Some 10 years later, Medisport bought Medipost Ltd and relocated to the site in Oldham, Lancashire to become the leading supplier to physiotherapists in private practice. This group strengthened their market position with the purchase of Footman & Company Ltd, a London-based supplier of consumables, such as blades, creams, etc and capital equipment which it sells to chiropodists and podiatrists. This business was relocated to the Oldham site in October, 2000. To consolidate the growing businesses, in 2002 a holding company was formed under the name of Mobilis Healthcare Group. Since this date other companies have been acquired including the Vulkan range of sports supports, Neen Design Ltd: Pelvic Healthcare, Trimilin: Sports Medicine, Sorbothane: Unique Shock absorber Insoles. More recently SKF Services, a leading supplier of physiotherapy products and services has been acquired which has further strengthened the organisation, and provided a national technical service network.
