Lecturer - Professor Tim Watson
PhD, BSc, MCSP, DipTP
Tim trained as a physiotherapist at the West Middlesex Hospital School of Physiotherapy, qualifying in the late 70’s. After spending a few years in the NHS (mainly out-patients and orthopaedics / rheumatology), he returned to teach at West Middlesex.

He undertook a degree in Biomedical Sciences followed by a PhD from the Biomedical Engineering Department at the University of Surrey (1994). His PhD thesis was ‘The Bioelectric Correlates of Musculoskeletal Injury and Repair’. He currently researches in several fields associated mainly with electrotherapy and tissue repair.

He is currently Professor of Physiotherapy and Director of Research, School of Health & Emergency Professions at the University of Hertfordshire.

Tim currently teaches electrotherapy and tissue healing on the undergraduate and post graduate physiotherapy programmes at the University of Hertfordshire.

Current studies include investigation of the physiological effects of pulsed short-wave therapy, the physiological changes associated with ipsilateral and ultrasound therapy and a study considering the differential effects of traditional (MHz) and long wave (kHz) ultrasound. He has attracted several PhD students who have enrolled since 2000.
