Course Overview  


Course Introduction
These workshops are led by a qualified Occupational Therapist who brings 9 years clinical experience from working with trauma and orthopaedic upper limb injuries, plus extensive knowledge of the products used throughout the workshops. The workshops take place over 5 hours and a certificate of attendance is presented upon completion.

These workshops are open to:  

  • Occupational Therapists
  • Physiotherapists
  • Therapy Support Staff
  • Orthopaedic Technicians

Course Overview
Static Splinting Workshop
Delegates attending this workshop will learn about static splinting and fabrication techniques. The course covers basic static splint theory, an evaluation of thermoplastic materials and their clinical application, and a review of static prefabricated splints. Following this, there is an opportunity to put the theory into practice making patterns and fabricating splints.

This theoretical and practical workshop provides:

  • An opportunity to learn about static splint theory
  • Familiarity with thermoplastic materials, strapping and padding
  • An opportunity to practice pattern making
  • An opportunity to fabricate and fit splints
  • Increased awareness of static prefabricated splints


Dynamic Splinting Workshop
Delegates attending this workshop will learn about dynamic splinting and fabrication techniques. The course covers basic dynamic splint theory and clinical reasoning, an evaluation of thermoplastic materials and dynamic accessories along with their clinical application, and a review of dynamic prefabricated splints. Following this, there is an opportunity to put the theory into practice fabricating and fitting dynamic splints.

This theoretical and practical workshop provides:

  • An opportunity to learn about dynamic splint theory
  • Familiarity with thermoplastic materials, dynamic accessories, strapping and padding 
  • An opportunity to fabricate and fit a dynamic splint    
  • Increased awareness of dynamic prefabricated splints    
 

Hand Assessment Workshop

Delegates attending this workshop will learn about assessment, evaluation and application techniques. The course covers the background of assessment, reliability and validity of assessment tools plus their clinical application. Following this, there is an opportunity to put the theory into practise using the tools available.

This theoretical and practical workshop provides:

Neoprene Splinting Workshop
This workshop is ideal if you are an experienced splinter or have just started treating clients who would benefit from neoprene splinting as part of their therapy management. It is an opportunity to gain an understanding of the wide application of neoprene splints and practical splint application skills.
