FormthoticsTM are custom foot orthotics – they are prefabricated and can be gently heated to mould to the shape of the foot and shoe, right in the clinic.
It will only take a short time to heat the Formthotics and mould it into shape, so a patient can be fitted on their first consultation. Because the Formthotics will form a close fit to the foot and the shoe, it provides greater biomechanical control, good functional support and stabilisation of the foot and lower limb.
In effect, Formthotics offer a time-effective and cost-effective solution to health professionals who want to help patients that suffer from foot, leg or lower back pain.
Why Formthotics TM work
Formthotics are milled (cut) from a unique thermoplastic ‘closed cell’ polyethylene foam, which is able to retain a new shape after it is heated
In comparison, prefabricated custom foot orthotics are typically made of an ‘open cell’ foam called ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA). They are compression moulded using extreme heating and pressure which permanently alters the cell structure of the foam and prevents it from holding a new shape.
The Formthotics product range is based on scientific literature as well as theoretical and clinical insight from respected health professionals in the fields of Sports Medicine, Musculoskeletal Medicine, Podiatry and Physiotherapy. We invite health professionals to visit our knowledge base on www.formthotics.com for more information and independent research articles.
