Who are the Lionhearts?

International selection is the pinnacle of any players career, no matter which level he plays at, and that fact holds true for the hundreds of English players in the totalRL.com Rugby League conference and LHF Healthplan National League Three. For each of these players knows that, through skill, effort and commitment he could represent England at the highest level by being selected for the England Lionhearts.

A Brief History

The Rugby League Conference Lionhearts began by playing other representative sides in the Scottish Courage Cup. By 2000, they had earned entry into the early rounds of the prestigious Powergen Challenge Cup and, memorably, ran Eccles ARLFC close in a First Round Tie of epic proportions. The following year, Featherstone Lions ARLFC visited Hemel Hempstead, Pennine Way ground and were impressed by the skill and tenacity of the players representing the Rugby League Conference.

In 2002 the Lionhearts became the England Lionhearts to gain entry in to the new Four Nations tournament featuring national sides from Wales, Ireland and Scotland in a competition that concentrated on fielding teams of home-grown talent from the burgeoning domestic leagues within each country.

England eventually went on to break the Welsh domination of the four nations championship in the summer of 2006.
